Could we widen our Bottleneck?

Paradoxically, for the same biology, a creature’s learning bottleneck is likely to be smaller, the greater their world view.

The evidence for this is that some chimps can significantly outperform the world memory champions on some tasks. See Smart Chimp

Might we widen it by updating our own mental hardware? I think it is unlikely:
Our biological and neurological processes are already highly optimised through competitive evolution.

The remaining option is to transfer our intelligence to a machine, and let that become the highest form of life!
